Challenge
The main challenge of this project was to carry out the installation of the required works, during the school holidays, whilst maintain access for users of the school during the summer break.
Solution
Our fully DBS cleared workforce completed the works on time and handed the project over prior to the re-opening to pupils in September.
This was despite having to make design changes to overcome buildability issues with the existing car park, drainage and electrical network.
The alteration works carried out included:
- Changing the layout of the existing car park to create new tarmacked footways and disabled parking bays
- Installation of a new surface water drainage system included gullies and 2 soakaways
- Installing speed humps to reduce the speed of car park users
- Upgrading the car park lighting to enhance safety during winter months
- Saw cut and removal of a section of a brick wall to enable the installation of a new footway
- Installation of new signage, lining and bollards to suit the new car park layout and provide pedestrian protection from vehicle movements
