Location
Challenge
The extension to the Northern end of the existing substation was to be cut in to an existing bank with restricted access and egress.
If the material was to be moved through the live substation it would have impacted operations and added months to the operation. The project included: –
- Temporary access
- Footpath diversion
- Site clearance
- Earthworks
- Material processing
- Temporary works
- Validation
There was also rock at relatively shallow depths.
Solution
Negotiation with adjacent landowners and temporary protection measures were introduced to allow us to remove the surplus material without the need to traffic through the live site.
Due to the nature of the road and weight restrictions, we utilised agricultural tractors and trailers to remove the materials opposed to articulated dumptrucks.
We were able to process enough of the rock to provide the backfill material for the new retaining walls which saved on both import and export of materials.
