Location

Challenge

The construction of an in-situ reinforced concrete public realm amphitheatre resulting in the creation of a focal point for fans to gather pre and post match.

The Client required a new space for fans to gather on match days. The project also created new access steps leading to the reconfigured club shop entrance. The design detailed a curved stepped amphitheatre structure incorporating a flight of steps at one end. Above this there is a wide flight of steps leading up to the club shop.

The project included: –

  • Site clearance
  • Formation
  • RC In-Situ Concrete Structure
  • Surfacing
  • Handrailing
  • Ducting
  • Landscaping

All the elements of the project were to be delivered in a busy environment, directly next to a football stadium. It was, therefore, imperative to minimise disruption and complete the works prior to the commencement of the following season.

Solution

Assembling a team of trusted people and suppliers, we commenced the project with a clear plan and programme designed to achieve the completion date in time for the commencement of the football season.

Due to the critical programme, all components were meticulously planned and all stakeholders were engaged with ahead of the commencement of construction activities. Following stakeholder consultation, we took the opportunity to install a ducting infrastructure networks to enable food and beverage vendors to receive power and data without the need for local generators.

The amphitheatre opened in August 2024 and has been proven popular with fans, vendors and the club alike.

At ACS Midlands we have many capabilities. Get in touch for more information on this project or to discuss your requirements.
