Challenge

The Client required a retail unit to utilise a plot at the entrance to a new housing development in Thronton Cleveleys, near Blackpool. Owned by the CO-OP, the retail unit provides local convenience retail services to the new overall development. To deliver the Client’s vision, the project demands a high quality finish that is both welcoming to commuters and passers-by, as well as an easily accessible retail unit for the new community. The project included: –

  • Earthworks
  • Groundworks
  • Drainage and services
  • Building works
  • Mechanical and electrical systems
  • Hard and soft landscaping

All the elements of the project were to be delivered in a busy environment, directly next to a school and new build housing development, therefore it was imperative to minimise disruption and be respectful of the local community.

Solution

Assembling a team of trusted people and suppliers, we commenced the project with a clear plan and programme designed to achieve the occupation date of the end user. Due to tight programme and the close proximity of a the new build housing development, every small component was coordinated between not only us and our delivery team, but also the client and their consultants, the neighbouring developer, the new services providers (BT, electricity and water), Building Control, the Client’s management team and the end user and their fit-out contractors. The project was completed, signed off and handed over on programme and within budget. The retail unit opened in April 2025 and has been a huge success locally and in the wider area.
